Young people across the city of Hull will have the chance to put together a script for a short film during a series of workshops. The young people will experiment with camera techniques, develop characters for film, explore film genres and all the ideas for the short films will come from the young people taking part, with guidance and support from Cascade film makers.
Supported by the Lottery through the UK Film Council’s First Light Movies initiative
For everyone who was involved in the making of the films for the Young Directors project we recently discovered some current film festivals where the films (TASTR’s Task, The Song, B10ND(e), and Secrets) could be uploaded and become part of these film competitions.
Here we have included a list of URL’s were your videos could be uploaded. Good luck if you get involved!

My name is Ellie Wright and I am a year 10 student at Andrew Marvell Business and Enterprise College. I am currently working with the Cascade team as part of my work experience project. I recently watched the four short films made by Cascade and First Light Movies and I really enjoyed all four. Each were very different but all were fantastic for their differences. All the actors and actresses within the films were substantial and each individually showed great talent as did others working on the films such as camera crew and sound technicians.

We’re very excited that the B10ND(e) Trailer won 3rd place at the Screen Yorkshire Presents event yesterday evening. Congratulations to all the young people who worked so hard on the film.
