A short animation by Claire Taylor, created during the WAM! Project’s Moving the Image workshops
The sequence features some animated vases dancing around each other and scraps of paper which come together to spell out Root One Summer Programme.
This short animated sequence introduced a longer film documenting youth arts activities during the summer 2007.
Great to have the chance to be involved with unstructured, playful animation workshops, at a local youth centre (Kingston Y.C. – Hull) using I Can Animate, a box full of toys and loads of imagination. The main difficulty with these sessions in negotiating do-able stop motion scenes with young people who are taken with the unlimited nature of Pixar. The compositing features of I Can Animate help, but need some patience and lots of time. The answer is to explore the stop-motion element as a group – everyone can have a role here – and then break the drawing tasks down – so the young people can get on with this time intensive task in their own time.
