Arts Council- England support “Out of Site”, a participatory media arts project, focusing on Travellers, living in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The project is a partnership between Cascade, “Hidden Voices”, Cottingham High, Media Arts Specialist School and the Traveller Community. The project will involve a series of participatory media art workshops leading to an online broadcast, a touring exhibition and a publication. Thematically “Out of Site” it is about the changing identity of a hidden community, integration, technological inclusion, fantasy and oral history.
This short documentary film was made with people at the Earth Centre, Bridlington. It was made by Claire Taylor, and it part of the Out of Site, a creative project challenging negative stereo types of the Traveller community.
We went to the Traveller site at Woodhill way with METAS and Hidden Voices to do some activities with the children. We had colouring in sheets, mobiles to make and models to build. It was really well attended by both children and adults, the kids were all fantastic and made some great pictures and mobiles.
